The Chinese Moso bamboo spends the first few years of its life seemingly stagnant, growing no visible height above the ground. Instead, it focuses entirely on establishing a deep and expansive root system underground. But when the time is right, it enters a rapid growth phase, shooting up over 20 meters in just 45 to 60 days.
This remarkable growth pattern reflects a powerful spiritual truth about our own lives. There are seasons when we may feel like nothing is changing or moving forward—times of obscurity, discouragement, or waiting. Yet, these are not wasted times. Rather, they are the essential “root-building” seasons, preparing us for the sudden growth and fruitfulness that lies ahead.
Even now, you might be in such a season. If so, don’t lose heart. Trust in God, because He is working deep within you, building character, faith, wisdom, and strength. Growth doesn’t always appear outwardly at first—it can happen in your mindset, your maturity, your spiritual discernment, or your calling.
When you faithfully endure and embrace this preparation time without withholding your efforts, God will stretch and blossom the gifts He has placed in you. At the right moment, He will raise you up and use you powerfully for His purposes.
So hold onto your confidence. Trust the process. Rooted in Him, your season of breakthrough will come—and it will be more than worth the wait.
“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.”
