“God’s Power Revealed in Our Weakness”

God’s wonderful work is most vividly revealed at the very moments when we feel powerless and come face to face with our own limitations. When we believe we can do everything in our own strength, we unknowingly confine our possibilities within the boundaries of our abilities. That kind of striving and effort might seem strong on the surface, but in reality, it becomes a self-imposed barrier, preventing us from reaching beyond ourselves.

Yet, when we encounter situations and challenges that are clearly beyond what we can handle on our own, it is then that we finally recognize our weakness and begin to seek help beyond ourselves. In that moment, we have the opportunity to experience the power of God, who rules over the universe and holds all things in His hands.

A powerful example of this truth can be found in the life of Moses. When Moses lived as a prince in Pharaoh’s palace, he had status, power, and resources at his fingertips. Yet, even with all those privileges, he was unable to bring about the great work God had planned for him. In his own strength, he even tried to defend his people by killing an Egyptian, but that only led to his exile. Moses fled into the wilderness of Midian, where he became a shepherd—far removed from the power and influence of Egypt.

It was there, in the quietness of the wilderness, stripped of all worldly power, that God appeared to Moses in the form of a burning bush (Exodus 3). The bush was on fire but was not consumed, and from it, God called out to Moses, commissioning him to lead His people out of slavery in Egypt. Moses, aware of his own inadequacy, responded with fear and hesitation, saying, “Who am I that I should go to Pharaoh and bring the Israelites out of Egypt?” (Exodus 3:11). But God assured him, “I will be with you.”

Through that encounter, Moses stepped into the calling that was far beyond his own ability. And as he obeyed, God’s mighty hand worked through him in miraculous ways: the plagues that struck Egypt, the parting of the Red Sea, where the waters stood like walls on either side as the Israelites walked through on dry ground (Exodus 14). No human effort could accomplish such feats—it was God’s power, displayed through the weakness of a man who knew he couldn’t do it alone.

When we touch God’s power, just as Moses did, we begin to awaken to the hidden potential and gifts that God has placed within us. Through His guidance, we step into new stages of life, and our lives are transformed into something even richer and more dynamic.

This process teaches us to balance two seemingly opposite attitudes: giving our best effort and entrusting the outcome to God. People who don’t know God tend to either overexert themselves trying to control everything or give up entirely, letting life simply happen. But those who know God can do both—work diligently and yet rest, knowing God is ultimately in control. This balance allows our journey to be peaceful, confident, and aligned with God’s flow, while still striving to grow and use the abilities He has given us.

Just as God called Moses when he felt unqualified and powerless, He calls each of us. God will use the potential within you that you haven’t yet noticed, opening new paths you’ve never imagined. Even in the most difficult challenges, God will provide a way forward.

2 Corinthians 12:9

“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
